generating html tables - variable number of <TD> .. fixed <TR> break???

P: n/a
Hello.

I've got a DOS script that generates <TD>s for image files in a
directory. I then plug it's output into an html table producing
thumbnail like image boxes (the script is also setting the width and
hieght of the source image).

The number of files in the directory varys and is always changing.

In HTML TABLE code, is it possible to define a fixed / preset number
of <TH>s or <TR>s at the TABLE level without having to actually code
them in in? My goal is to always have 5 boxes/images across no matter
how many TDs I have - but I don't want to have the DOS script counting
and pluggin them in - which is possible but of course not trivial in
DOS script.

Thanks.
