create desktop icon from browser with proper name, not URL as name.

Hello,
Could someone please tell me if there is a way, or how do I change my
html so that if I drag and drop a link from a webpage to the desktop
in such a way that the name of the shortcut created is not the URL of
the link but the link itself?
any help is greatly appreciated.

e.g. if the link is

<a href="http://www.microsoft.com"> MS </a>

then the name of the desktop icon should be 'MS' and not
http://www.microsoft.com

thanks again..
ravi.

I would imagine it depends on either the browser or OS. What you want it to
do is what it does by default here on Moz1.5 and IE6 (Win2k).

Didn't know I could do that. Works with IE 6 on Win98SE, too. Learn
something new every day.

It's not part of HTML to define what happens when you drag-and-drop a
link to the OS desktop, as HTML doesn't know anything about Operating
Systems. On my Windows, the filename when I drag-and-drop above is "MS"
already.
