A funny story about horrid "html"

Today, my wife was chatting with a friend and her friend was telling her
about an irc script that she just "needed" and then directed her to this
download page: http://www.barrie44.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/script.htm
I have IE all but removed from this computer and use Firebird. Needless
to say, the page barely even showed up and the lower half, including the
DL link is nowhere to be seen. After fighting with it a bit my wife and
her friend now believe that I'm a moron and it's all our computers
fault, because it shows up just fine for her friend. I laughed.

Just to show them I ran it through the validator... no dtd. So I told it
HTML 4.01 transitional. No charachter coding... oh heck, utf-8. Finally
with these two overrides in place 88 errors. Even still they think I'm a
moron and don't know anything: I just screw things up. Just had to share
that with you all.

My favorite part of the source is the </body> in the middle of the page
and the complete lack of <html> tags. See you later,Aron--
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people
very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea.\n-- Douglas Adams

I especially like the sign in the top that says "Redesigned".

You probably just made things worse. Fellow site designers would think of
me as a moron if I showed them the validator not even two years ago.

Come to think of it, I distinctly remember taking the guys over at CIWAS
for complete morons when they first laid a hand on me regarding the
validator; this must have been about two years ago. What a denial.
