Placeholder not working in ie

this syntax not working in IE

If you are using IE 8 or earlier then it doesn't support the placeholder tag. You could try adding some Javascript libraries that enable that tag (or other html 5 tags) conditionally if the browser version is IE 8 or less.

I haven't used this myself but it looks good.
