Page's Links color & its styling

Hello guys..

I have read all the available answers but unable to find it relevant to my problem..

I am developing a online exam portal in which there is a modal window containing question numbers at top left side & questions & their options at right side.

(a) Initial background color of all the question number blocks is #DB5C04..
(b) & on hover the background color turns into #5CAFED..
(c) The question which I am reading at present is having background color #028F02...
(d) I want that when I visit any question number & move to another then the question number which I have previously visited, do not change its background color. It has to stay with the green color i.e. #028F02...


I have tried the concept of a:link | a:visited | a:hover | a:active but it's worthless in my case.


Please guys.... Help me...
