relation between size attribute and width css property for input type=text/password

hi

Is size attribute inside input field with type=text/password only for identify width of input field? and what is the ralation between size attribute, width css property for input field and count of input character ?

i think i find my answer
width css property and size attribute for input elements are merely for limit count of visible input character and limiting count of input character is done via maxlength attribute and we can set it to expected count of input character
