How do I take the Footer out of the wrapper div?

I'm trying to create a footer that contains links that are centered, however I want the edges of the footer to extend outside my wrapper div. which is at 1000px. How do I accomplish this?

In the example link that you've provided the footer is placed outside of the wrapper division.
