need to define variables for HTML

I need to obtain a numeric value from a dropp down menu to validade the information due to i'm trying to define dates from the user. I need to avoid conflict because the user can't select a date earlier than the previous chosen. For example: i need two dates consecutives. Dates can't be entered as 01/15/2010 and the next 01/01/2010. I created a web site through Intuit and all i'm doing is inserting an HTML in to the web by myself.
If i could obtain a value from the dropp down menu that i use to let the user insert dates i could evaluate if dates are wrong or right. I'm using several menus for month, day and year and each allows for only one choice.

Neither html or css can do this. You'd need to take care of this server side or use javascript.
