IE8 ignores TD class

NOTE: Since my original post, I discovered the problem is intermittent. Please don't waste your time on it until I can reliably reproduce it. Sorry to have posted prematurely. (Would have deleted post but couldn't figure out how.)

I am having a strange problem, illustrated at the following URL:
<temporarily removed>

This is a page I "inherited" from another developer (no longer here), and I am trying to clean it up a little. It originally had been laid out with inline styles (e.g. <td style="width:131px">), but I want to switch over to classes (e.g. <td class="item-label">). Using the new classes, the page lays out fine in FireFox 3, but when I try to view it in IE8, the classes are all being ignored and the table layouts are all uneven.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
