Which is the best way to display thumb pic?

in a page I display a small picture and when the user clicks a bigger is shown and I wonder is it better to make a little version of the larger picture and display that into the page or use the full size image and resize it using width and height with which way the page will load faster? (the full size image is around 100K)

that depends on how you show the bigger picture. generally it is better to to have 2 versions of the picture (despite loading much faster). and some browsers (IE) are awful on scaling pictures.
