"Web fonts" are proposed for CSS3 which will allow downloading of fonts to the client browser. There are 'issues' with that regarding ownership of fonts that are not free.

@font-face { font-family: Frutigerleftsidebar;
src: local("Frutiger LT 55 Roman"), url("fonts/frult55r.ttf") format("truetype");}

i used this in css file so tht it uses the fonts from server. But in old browsers like FF 2 its not getting the fonts.when i validate the css according to CSS2.1 standards its says @font-face is not recognized .but 3 and all its okie.
Is there any ways to make so that fonts are taken from server and recognized by all servers.

font-face now works in FF3.5, now in beta but to be released in June. It also works in Safari and, I think, Opera, on their next releases. It's hopeless to expect it to work in IE for at least 3 more years.
