Resolved. If anyone is interested the corrections were:
1/ right side clip (I had been hitting the wrong ruleset prior to posting):
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. .one {overflow-x: hidden;}
  2.  
2/ horizontal nav flickering in IE/6 on window drag (which I had not written about in the post).
