Honeycomb Background?

Hey guys, been working on my new site. I think I'll use it as a homepage/blog for my use, nothing big. I've gotten all of my content to center, and I have a skeleton outline for where all of my content will be placed. The site is themed to yellow and black colors... it's supposed to be a bumblebee color scheme, and actually looks pretty nice. For the background, I was planning on making honeycombs interlocking, as filler on the sides of the centered content. I was wondering if applying an entire background picture of honeycombs (it would have to be fairly large to accommodate people with wide screens) would dramatically slow down load time. I'm guessing this idea wouldn't be too practical for people who still have dial-up. What should I do? Honeycombs, or just a solid color as filler on the sides?

I would suggest if you are going to use a background image have it as small as you can and have the background property set to repeat. This will conserve on bandwidth and not cause issues for those who remain on dial-up.

As far as whether to use a solid vs image is really a personal preference.
