Is there a way to change a site's background depending on the screen size?

I am an beginner web design so please help so i can copy and paste it!

But i have a background for a site with a picture of someone. I positioned it perfectly on my home computer ( a wide screen) so that he would be leaning on a chat room we have.

When i later go to see it again(on a smaller screen, average size) he is taken over by the chat room.

What is a code so when I make a seperate picture, it will call it up if the person has an average screen, but when the screen is bigger, it brings up a totally new one.

If you have a wide screen, there will be somone leaning on the chat room, it not, he is covered up by the chat room.

I want it to be able to change so whoever views it, will see him leaning on the chat room.

You don't need to change the image for the screen size. You need to position it properly.

First of all, use a strict doctype and sort out these validation errors to at least get all browsers (almost) behaving equally.
