Opacity

I am having trouble figuring out how to do this. I have a webpage with a static background image. I would like to have the background image sort of show through the body (opacity of 0.6). I know how to do this if I add a background image to a parent div, but I don't know how to do it with a body background image. Just to get a visual of what the webpage looks like without the opacity, the website is http://ndlightningriders.com. Thanks!

The body is the top level. Nothing can be behind the body.

I think I stated my dilema poorly. I want to be able to see the background through the center div, the one with all the text and header. The part with the text. http://NDlightningriders.com/

Vinnie, do not double post. Against forum rules. I have to run out for a few hours unless someone else gets to this.
