What do you think of my site's scheme?

Death Slaught

I've been working on a site lately just for something to do. I'm going to post a thread soon to invite people to submit stories and poems for it (that's going to be a while i'm really busy). So I just wanted to see what everyone thought of the scheme for it.

It's not cross-browser compatable yet. So I ask that you view it in IE, i'm going to fix this VERY soon.

It may take a few seconds for the navagations hover image to completley load. So just keep the mouse over it until it does.

freewebs.com/deathslaught

^_^ Thanks, Death

PS - Another example of how horrible IE is. My XHTML and CSS are valid and it looks retched in FF. (Yes the way it looks in IE is the way I want it to look). Also I know I shouldn't use IE as a reference but I can't use any other browser at the moment because the server where I am blocks everything but IE.

[EDIT] If anyone has suggestions on making the site better please let me know, i'de love to hear them. [/EDIT]

I don't see why you say it is wretched. Firefox is displaying what you wrote so I'm sure it's just an adjusted setting somewhere but IE looks easy to fix. Overall, the look of the site is interesting. Glad to see it all validates but because you didn't do this with Firefox I'm not talking to you anymore. ;)

:) :) :) I'll fix it soon enough. I can get on FF when i'm at school which is where I am now.

When you say 'interesting'. Was that a:
  1. Interesting=bad Interesting
  2. Interesting=good Interesting
  3. Interesting=Interesting
  4. Interesting=Interestingly Interesting.

interesting interesting. There is a quality to the background image that I like and your text/links blend in with it well. I know it's still barebones but you have a good start.

Rather than using a <p> for your heading, I would use <hx>, though, because that's what they are.

Looks good, would even better if the background wasn't tiled on wider monitors. Oh, and get rid of the that freebar, the best way to do this is take the smallest static freebar, set it's color to black, and place it in the bottom right corner or something, somewhere where people don't look.

Thanks, I wose hoping you would pick interestingly interesting (that was my favorite).

I'm in a strange but good mood right now. I'm kind of bored, well, at least I think I am. So I guess i'll start on the 'stories' page. I'll let you know when it's up.

^_^ Thanks, Death

Thanks, i'll be sure to fix the tiledness.

Genious me tried to use z-index to cover it up :) So thanks for the tip. Do you know if freewebs is PHP compatable?

^_^ Thanks, Death

Don't like it. I hate it!!! Looks like my dog's breakfast the next day.

But I guess I'm just upset because you intend to torture me.

Actually its cool and it loaded OK for me. Not much graphics, no dumb animations, no flash, etc. wtc. just the way I like sites.

He can be whatever he wants in the inside, but if he shows such things to the outside, he would loose his "grimness" and then he's just "reaper', and I don't think you want to go through life as a persons who harvests crops when they are ripe :P

Nice rabbit! Site looks good too. I am wondering why the "Top Stories" right side column is almost in the middle of my page. I have a big screen, but maybe center the background and move each content column to the far left or right? Otherwise all my browsers are broken and don't display content properly... Which wouldn't surprise me!
Feb 8 '08 #18
Toooooo late, isn't ?
Truly sorry. I have been very very busy.

Nice looking.
I'm happy to see u working like that.

If anyone has suggestions on making the site better please let me know, i'de love to hear them
I strongly recommend using <hx> in order to give structure to ur page as drhowarddrfine suggested. So that u use h1 for headlines of the highest level and therefore, greatest importance. h2 to represent headlines with lower importance ( subheads ) and so on. This consistent arrangement of styles organize the text and guide the reader through the page.
and yea, it's better to choose different color for headlines.

Keep up the good work.
Best of luck.

My site just got an upgrade, unfortuneatley I still haven't fixed it for cross-browser compatability yet (i'm working on that right now). In a few days it should work in FF and Opera. And I haven't changed the paragraphs to heading that's coming in the next update.

[EDIT] I just finished fixing it. It now displays perfectly in FF, and Opera, and the source of all evil IE. I haven't edited the files on the site yet though so it still has the gap but as soon as I get out of school I'm fixing it. Also If any one finds any problems please let me know[/EDIT]
