Footer comes up on post back!

1
In our asp.net 2.0 project, I have a huge page which handles lot of security related issues with some 30 to 40 dropdowns and many links. The left side content is the help text for the page whereas the right side content of the page is divided into two panels that are invisible at the start. There are two search buttons overall in the page, On click of each search button the appropriate panel would be visible. Then the modifications are done and Save button click, saves the changes.

The problem I have is that when I click on the search button [Or you can consider that when the post back happens] the footer at the bottom of the page comes to the middle of the page. I mean when the first panel is visible, the footer stays at the middle of the screen where the first panel ends. Since the left side [help text] content is huge, the footer shows itself at the middle of the screen above the left side content. If you need more info I can provide you. Can you please help me regarding this?

This "problem" is actually normal operation involving floated or absolutely positioned elements. These elements are removed from the normal flow, allowing other elements to take their place. Without a link or the complete markup, we'd only be guessing.
