There are many border properties that can be applied in CSS but the width is simply:
select{
border-width:8px;
}

Well, it does work so something is wrong with your markup. You need to give a link or the complete markup.

the border tags work for netscape and firefox, but not IE on a PC. I am trying to find a solution as well for IE. Please if you think you have an answer, try it first before you post your comment.
