You are missing something in your header. It should look like this:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
  2. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
  3. "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
  4. <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en-us" lang="en-us">
  5.
The part you were missing was the: "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>", which begins the doctype statement.

Granted, there are 17 other errors that need to be corrected, but that got you past the total failure.

Jeff

No, the xml declaration should not be used because only modern browsers will handle it properly and IE won't.

I assume the 'problem' you are talking about is that the page is served as text and the html is not being rendered. The reason is that your server is set to serve the page as 'text/plain' rather than 'text/html'.
