Tabs - glitches in IE

Nonnumquam
Hello,

I'm fairly new to CSS...

Can anyone explain why the tabs at http://www.hardingweb.net/menu-demo/ work okay in Firefox 2, work ok-ish in Opera 9.22 (seem to be raised 1or 2 pixels from the bottom) and yet appear blocky in IE 6 & 7 with the rounded corners obliterated.

If I remove the line:

padding-top: 5px;

then that seems to fix it although I do really want the padding to add height to my tabs.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

The potential problems are that you are using an incomplete doctype which puts IE into quirks mode. Also, you use a xhtml end tag for the link, the />, but declare html. See the article about doctypes under Articles above.
