HTML Includes on Virtual servers

I have several virtual sites on my web space (commercial hosting with cPanel control).

Is there a method to use a single file from my base server to include files on the virtual domains?

example: <!--#include virtual="/file.html" --> works in the base directory.

but when I try to include on virtual dir, I get an error message [an error occurred while processing this directive]

I tried to make the path from the home server,
<!--#include virtual="/home/xxx/public_home/file.html" -->and received same error.

Id there a way to work around the base server and virtual server?
