Firefox does not apply fonts/colors in table elements

Hi,
I could use some help understanding how to get Firefox to correctly apply font and background colors to table elements. It seems to want to apply the colors from the body element to everything regardless of what style has been designated for table elements.

The web page is here: http://www.sourcebiofly.com
css is here: http://www.sourcebiofly.com/source.css

If you view with IE you will see the colors applied correctly.

Thanks!
Susan I.

Not sure, but you seem to be missing this:

type="text/css" which goes inside of

<link rel="stylesheet" href="source.css"></link>

And I don't think you have to close the </link>

There are a number of problems with this page including the one just mentioned. I just got back from out of town so I'll have to look more later. The </link> tag must be removed. That may be what is canceling out the CSS. You have no doctype either but that's not related to this question.

Yeah... it's actually not my page... I'm trying to help someone out. The link tag was the first thing I fixed (and removed the empty <style> </style> block). Neither of those things seems to have made a difference. I also stripped the page down to just the first portion of the page header and removed the tables, using div tags instead. Firefox still seems to want to apply the colors/fonts coded on the body style to everything. Here is the HTML for that attempt:

<html>
<head>
<title>Welcome To The Source BioLOGICAL Fly Control</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://localhost/source.css" type="text/css">
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">

name=KeyWords>

<META content="MGHTML 3.12.60" name=GENERATOR>
<script language="JavaScript" src="https://seal.networksolutions.com/siteseal/javascript/siteseal.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

</head>
<body>
<div style="width:750px;height:532px;" align="center" class="pageSquare">
<div style="width:715px;height:100px;"align="center" class="contentArea">
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<img src="http://sourcebiofly.com/images/FlySlash.jpg">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&n bsp;&nbsp;
<img src="http://sourcebiofly.com/images/LargeLogo.jpg">
</div>

</div>
</body>
</html>

I brought the css file local for my testing, but it is unchanged from that on the server.

Any help you could provide will be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Susan I.

Sorry but this thing is a mess. It's a perfect example of why tables should never be used for layout. With all the nesting going on, I'm not even able to figure out what controls what so I can only think that specificity in the CSS isn't pointing at the right thing. Why IE is changing the colors, I don't know but it shouldn't because it looks like the color is set to that shade of blue...um...I think.
