menu list problem

12
hi,

I've made a template for a site i am constructing and i've ran into a little problem;
i've set a maximum width, so that when you adjust the screen everything follows.
problem is that my menu buttons overlap each other. Is there a way around this?

of course i can always not use the max-width so that nothing adjusts to the screen size but i rather not if there is a way out of this.

link to template; http://webontwerp.rega.khleuven.be/501053/project/template.html

thanks in advance,

Stief

I assume you mean the overlapping that is caused when you make the browser smaller. max-width is not what makes your buttons adjust to the screen size. This happens with or without it. Making your navigation bar 'fluid' is making the adjustment happen. However, the overlapping buttons is one of the problems with fluid designs.

You can experiment with margins/padding or keeping some of the buttons in their own block element so that, when the width gets too small, perhaps half the buttons drop beneath the other half in a more ordered way.

well, i tried to experiment a bit with margin and padding, but without results, i can see a change when changing left or right - margin, padding, but no result when trying to alter top, bottom...
could you explain a bit more about your other possibility; putting some in a ?block?
dont have a clue what you mean by this could you give me some sort of example?

much appreciated,
