Question with centering content with css

I have a <div> that is centered, and has a background image with no border. However the text is going outside of the <div> and will not stay inside of it. I tried to use [HTML]margin-left: -20px;[/HTML], but that did not work. So what can I do to make the text appear inside the divider.

Do you want a picture of the solution or the actual code. Without the complete html and css or, preferably, a link, we can only guess at a solution.
