Email Read Receipt

sceeterbrain
Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to add just enough HTML coding to the bottom of an email such that when the recipient opens the mail, an automatica notification is sent to me letting me know that the email has been opened?

I appreciate any advise!

Yep. Techniques like that are frequently used by spammers to discover valid addresses in a mass spam (which is why I'm hesitant to post it). I'd recommend sticking with Outlooks' read receipt, though.

The problem with Outlook is that instead of receiving a read receipt, you have to request a receipt and 90% of the time, no one will allow you to collect one.

The wonderful world of Lotus Notes allowed you to gather a receipt without the recipient knowing, much less having to make an approval. I do not want to spam anyone, I just want to know matter of factly when my email is received and opened.

This question doesn't belong in the cafe and is being moved to the HTML/CSS forum. I also don't recommend posting this code as regardless of the Original Posters intention it could be used maliciously.

You would need server side scripting to do something like this, HTML is a markup language.

This has too much potential for maliciousness and spam-like behavior. I am closing this thread.
