I use notepad.
Rich Text Editor is actually an online application, not a local text editor.

Good old Notepad, but why note use a real editor such as 1st Page 2000 it's free and has lots of great features.

When you save in noted change file type to all files and give the page a .htm extension it will save as a web page.

Notepad saves as .doc? By defualt? That sounds more like Wordpad, but maybe not. Just use "save-as" instead of "save" and name the extension anything you want. But crimson editor is better ayway.

If you use notepad you can actually skip all of that and just name the file blahblahblah.htm leave file type as .txt and it will save as a .htm page. I've seen some good editors never toyed with crimson, Notepad ++ is the only one I've messed with I like the ones with some built in DB useage like Visual Web Dev Express.
