novice web help - IE6 problem displaying

I'm working on some mini-updates for a website, and when I check the updates, they display fine in IE7 and in Firefox, but I'm told that the display is totally skewed in IE6, can someone help?

IE6 is a bad browser as evidenced by the other browsers displaying correctly. However, first fix your html errors to see if this fixes IE. Check your css validation for some color errors there, too.

OK ... how do I do that? I'm still pretty new at this and not sure what's wrong.

OK, I've validated both the CSS and the HTML (W3C compliant), so now how do I get this fixed to work in IE6? I realize the simple solution would be to have people either NOT use IE6 or upgrade to IE7 where it works, but ...

I've put it up here:
