I'm thinking about advancing or furthering my knowledge of coding
webpages. I have a personal webpage that I have been working on and off
on since around 2000. During the process of building my site I was
learning as I was going.
Since the creation of my site webpage coding has changed a bit.
My knowledge is limited and my site shows that. I have the done the
best I could with the knowledge I had at the time. I had a book at one
point and have asked many questions in different forums on the
internet. The scripting on my site are downloaded scripts that I have
edited to fit my needs on the site.
I can remember clearing hurdles while coding my pages feeling
really good about what I had accomplished. I would see something I
would want to add to my site. Research it out find out what the
particular piece was called and trying to create it and when I realized
I couldnt because I didnt have the knowledge of how to do so. I would
find who did and download the code and place it in. I started thinking
to myself I like this. This is something I'd like to make a living out
of in the future. Then I would go to a site on the internet that would
just blow me away and I would say to myself I would've never come up
with this idea and realize I dont have the brain power to come up with
these great pages and say webdesign isnt for me.
I look at the scripting end of it and say I dont have the brain
power to code this stuff. My head just goes into a freeze. I say whats
the use. I'm am self taught person. I figuare if I dont have the math
applitude whats the use.
I also read that with the emergence of certain software packages
website design is becoming a dime a dozen perfession. All you have to
do is input some informaion i assume in a form and the software
generates the markup and from what I understand the scripting as well.
I havent kept up with the standards for about 1 to 2 years. What is
the stardard in markup at this point is it XML. Also a webdeveloper is
going to need to know scription both serverside and client side..Which
one is the standard in each. I need too simplify this what does a
Webdeveloper need to know in order to be employable
