linked list program

1
I have to write a program that using linked lists, allows the user to finds files,in a given directory, delete files, rename, sort in ascending and descending order according to time created, name of file and size of file. This is just one part of it, I have already attempted the other parts. Is there anyone out there that can help me?? Its really urgent

What language are you writing this in?

Why would you need a linked list for that? Are you adding or deleting entries (in storage) or manipulating large quantities of data (file) pointers? Would be a lot easier to read a directory in an array and handle that with array functions. I assume you are using a server-side script language.
