I'm new to the world of CSS and am stuck.

I have declared the :first-line pseudo element as all but one of my first line's need the same syle. However one doesnt. I have tried assigning the color and background-color again but this doesnt seem to work. I need this to work on as many platforms as possible, and cant work it out!!!

is it even possible or am I just missing something obvious??

If you mean it doesn't work in IE then that is the only problem. :first-line only works in modern browsers like, anything but IE.
