How to periodically refresh content of my page?

Hi all.

I have the following problem: in my web app. I have to periodically
refresh its content. It has to be done completely automatically. I
tried using <meta> tag - it works great in IE browser installed on my
laptop.

However, when I run my page on PocketPC, then I realised that whole
page was submitted to the server.

What I would like to do is to only refresh content of the page without
submitting it (get instead of post).

Is it possible?

Thanks in advance,
Piotrek.

There's no way to guarantee that on the WWW.
I tried using <meta> tag
It often has the desired effect.

page was submitted to the server.

On what grounds did you draw this conclusion?

And what was the URL?

Hi Jukka.

I set URL to the same page, on which I placed META tag.

On my page I have a button, which executes some SQL statements. I
pressed it, SQL was executed and then I wait 5 seconds for automatic
refresh. I noticed, that SQL was executed one more time - that's why I
think that page was submitted to the server.

I would like only to refresh contents of the page, without submitting
it.

However, this does not help us to analyze the cause of the problem. The URL
might not be sufficient, but it would be a start. Maybe the page contains
some script code that is executed when the page is loaded?

Hi Jukka.

No, there is no script executed at page load.

I am wondering why it works on 'normal' browser and not on PocketPC...
Jukka, do you have any clue that could give us the answer?

Reading this thread, I'd have to agree with Jukka on this. Without at
least an URL of the page you're referring to, it's like designing a
website with the monitor turned off.

Which, of course, is a perfectly possible and acceptable scenario.
