tables

Hi,

one can easily define rows and cols which to span over multiple rows/cols of
a table.

Is the opposite possible, too? Is there any element which makes two
cols/rows out of one - keeping the others untouched?

Best regards,

Oliver

from rowspan:
"This attribute specifies the number of rows spanned by the current cell."

I want to put the cells, e.g. from two rows appear in _one_ cell. In my
table, sometimes appear rows, that have one or two effectively needed cells
and a bunch of dummy cells. What I'd like to do is to throw away the dummy
cells und put the one or two needed cells in the next row (same col).

Best regards,

Oliver

I think I lack imagination, but could you just draw a table like the
one you're after? (like ascii art) I think that may help others (or at
least me) to understand the question.
