Aligning text in IE

Hi, I've attempted to write a clever site navigation system using style
sheets. I think I've got it doing what I wish to achieve in firefox, see
http://www.cronkshaw.co.uk/lowerclowes The problem is I don't know how
to make it look reasonable for IE6.
I understand that I will not be able to get the drop down menu's to
work, what I would like to achieve is the basic top level selection to
appear all on the same level across the top of the page, ie both the
left and right aligned bits on the same line, rather than on two lines
as now. Are there any useful tools to help me? or are there some quick
fixes?
Any other helpful advice also gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.

Ignoring your main question as it's time for me to hit the hay...:

Your menu's partly broken in Firefox, at least for me. When you mouse
over "Visits", the menu that drops down immediately shoots off to the
left and then vanishes as soon as you try to move the pointer over any
part of it!

And from a usability point of view, some visual clue that "Animals" has
a sub-menu might be an idea, too.

You may want to take a look at:

http://www.tanfa.co.uk/css/examples/...down-menus.asp

The system works well in both IE and Gecko browsers. It's what I use on
my site.
