Prepare for (CSS) Naked Day

http://www.dustindiaz.com/naked-day/

via Digg: "April the 6th will be a day for sites to delete their stylesheet.
Go naked for a day with just good ol' HTML."

This reminds me of "CSS reboot".

I like it, shame that my current site doesn't use CSS (demos and bug
reports excepted) :-/ otherwise I would have joined in.

That's two days for you, Els. Ladies first.

I noticed the dates anomaly as well.

Best wishes,

Roy

It takes some bravery to expose one's site in this way. Even if you add a
clear heading which says "it's CSS naked day", I wonder what errand
searchers (newcomers) will think when they reach the page through referral.
One day is something that is easy to cope with, but what would be the
benefit?

As the blog post indicates, to draw attention to the fact that a site
should be logically structured and fully functional without CSS. CSS can
and often does mask bad or poor markup, and possibly poor content.

Assuming Strict coding, switching CSS and the other optional fluff off
goes some way to expose the quality of the markup and content.

I agree with this reasoning, and I'm definitely not afraid to expose my
site this way. I take the whole logical-structure thing very
seriously.

Ironically, if your site uses a table layout with no CSS, it takes
no bravery at all.

I don't see the point.

I would love to expose my site this way, but I'm afraid the marketing
dept. won't approve such a move. :(

I was thinking about my blog. The rest is rather outdated (the stem of the
site) and should be perceived as legacy, largely. I carry a baggage of bad
Web design practices.

Best wishes,

Roy
