I use Javascript like this:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. <img src="images/theimage.jpg"
  2. onMouseOver="javascript: this.src='images/mouseover.jpg';"
  3. onMouseOut="javascript: this.src='images/theimage.jpg';" />
and of course add your link code. Or you can use CSS where you use background-image in your link pseudoclass. If you don't know the CSS details but want to use it I'll see if I can find an example to use.
