IE6+ Select Box border

Is there away to change the border style of the "dropdown box" (Select
input elements) for IE 6?

By border style, I mean the initial light blue outline of a select box.
If have successfully changes the border of its options, but the
initial border is always light blue in IE6 running WIndows XP.
From reading here I believe there is no way of overriding this default

color. Is this correct?

Thanks,
Ann

Sorry, Google Groups is mangling this... Weird.

Can I change the initial border color of a select box is my question
in a nutshell. I don't like the light blue that it has in IE6 on
Windows XP.

Get a newsreader. Even OE, properly used, beats Google Groups.

"No" is the answer in a nutshell.

Stop thinking what you like and think what your users are used to. If
they happen to use IE 6, they are probably accustomed to seeing select
boxes the way IE 6 displays them.

On the other hand, more than half of the select boxes on Web pages
should be replaced by sets of radio buttons, lists of links, or other
approaches.

From an HTML/CSS viewpoint, yes.
<select> is mostly styled by the OS. One of those weird things.

If you don't like the color, change your desktop theme.
