Is 'LINK'ing a stylesheet required before 'IMPORT'ing another for successful hovering?

My question is this...

Is 'LINK'ing a stylesheet required before 'IMPORT'ing another for successful
hovering?

I have a problem which cropped up with the introduction of IE 7 Beta 2...

Yes.. I realize it's IE (strike one)... and it's Beta (strike two)... but
ALL the hovering on my web site doesn't work in IE 7 B2 ! ! !

I'm not looking for a solution... I'm asking if there is some REQUIREMENT
for linking stylesheets before subsequently importing others...

this works in IE 7 B2...

http://Sandbox.SeaPlusPlus.net/hover.html

this doesn't in IE 7 B2...

http://Sandbox.SeaPlusPlus.net/nohover.html

The difference in the two is I've commmented out the line...

<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="css/xreaderbasic.css" />

This stylesheet, redundantly, specifies a subset of the the 'a:' stuff that
exists in the 'IMPORT'ed stylesheet.

Thank you...

No, there isn't.

Yes. Linked stylesheets don't suffer from this bug.

It's a temporary bug btw, it's already been fixed in later builds of
IE7b.

I knew you would that... or at least SOMEONE would... ;-)

I not liking the 'fix' because I'd have to modify every web page on my site.

Where did you hear that?

Are these builds available to the developers?

Thank you...

If that's many pages, I'd just leave it as is, knowing that the hover
effect will reappear in the real IE7.

On the IEBlog.
<quote>- people reported that :hover would not work from an @import.
That's a bug and already fixed in our builds.</quote>
A comment by "Markus", halfway this page:

No / not yet.
Thank you...

You're welcome :-)
