Once again, I am unsure about the solution to multi-column
layouts; and compensating for browser quirks. Here is an
example:
http://geocities.com/greg_heilers/animals.html
I basically use a "5-column layout" to create the checkerboard
pattern in the header - each column being 20% width. Fine -
it renders wonderfully in Opera, Mozilla, and Firefox. (In
Konqueror, it mysteriously *adds* a bit of white-space to the
right-margin - but no big deal.)
However (surprise...surprise) it fails in I.E. - the last column
wrapping; and appearing below the intended "5x3" checkerboard box.
I even tinkered and made each column {width:19.9%}; but while
it eventually would work adequately in I.E.; it naturally left
unsightly right-margin gaps in the "properly-behaving" browsers.
Is there a practical solution to this annoying problem?
( I apologize in advance for the banner ads appearing on the
sample code; as well as the possible slow loading of the images.)
