positioning of LI is incorrect until :hover in IE6

I'm hoping that someone in this group has seen this strange behavior
before and that it's a known IE6 bug with a solution.

http://sundialsc.com:8059/

There is a div.portal-globalnav-wrapper containing a
ul#portal-globalnav. One of the li elements, the li.selected,
initially renders in the upper left corner, far away from its li.plain
siblings. It does this only until one hovers over any of the other
li.plain elements, causing the li.selected to jump back into its proper
place. Hovering over the li.selected itself forces the "correction" as
well.

The page has valid XHTML. The CSS validates with the exception of some
complaining about "inline-block", but I am currently assuming that
these do not affect the elements about which I'm concerned.

Does this behavior look familiar to anyone? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks,
Jordan
