COL tags

For some reason, despite the W3C recommendation and documentation on the COL
tag and using the class attribute with it, it will not pass on it's class
attribute (or any style attribute either) to the TD tags in that column. It
works just fine in Internet Explorer (using IE6) but Netscape/Firefox don't
work correctly. Any ideas/input?

Thanks!

This is bug #915, written in 1998 but still open. It affects the
core Gecko browser engine used by Mozilla, Firefox, and Netscape.
From the discussion (241 comments so far), the problem is a lack of
consensus on the scope of a fix, resulting from some ambiguities in
the HTML 4.01 specification.

I use Mozilla as my Web browser because I want a browser that
complies with Web standards. See <URL:http://www.mozilla.org/>.
