Drop-down menu

I have a simple form in which i am using a drop-down select. However, I
have over 6,000 options. Is there any way where the user could tab into
the select and type out his choice, and it selects the choice he has
chosen? In other words, if two of my options are Amanda and Angel, when
the user types A N consecutively, it gives to Angel rather than the
choice that begins with 'N'.

I have seen this done on a web form. However, I do not remember which
form it is or how it was done.

Thanks!

A menu with 6,000 options is of no use to anyone. You're doing something
wrong.

That's standard behaviour in some browsers, but not others.

You've seen it done with 6,000 items? I very much doubt it. Provide your
user with a text box to type their own name in, then check it against a
database in your server. Putting 6000 items in a single menu is just plain
idiotic.
