Thanks for any help in advance. I am new at HTML. I have two programs
to use to develop a website (personal) Frontpage and HTML-Kit. My
question is, if I use Frontpage, I am limited to using IIS as a server.
Just wondering if Microsoft has any types of hooks in the App that
would limit the hosting platform. I also plan on using basic
authentication, I know that there is .htaccess in Unix, what about in
IIS/ Windows, what do they use for basic authentication?
Thanks,
Mark
Take Frontpage and throw it out the Frontdoor. You will do much better
using HTML-Kit, and I would recommend getting Top Style
<http://www.bradsoft.com/topstyle> either full or lite versions, which
HTML-Kit can use for CSS editing.
But, if you _must_ keep and use FrontPage, you are not limited to an IIS
server. If you want to use FrontPage extensions, then your host has to
support them.
IIS does support Basic Authentication; it has to be configured on the
server, but I would recommend authenticating against a database instead.
