how can I do something similar to "multipart/mixed" ?

Hi,
I have a search engine site written in Perl.
How could I display a temporarily page while the system retrieving
data, then a page refresh, display the search result in a new page?
I try to do it using "Content-Type: multipart/mixed;", it's working
well in Netscape and firefox, but no luck in IE.
Is there any standard way in doing that?
Thanks a lot.
