Textarea Text Invisible

I have create a web site that many people use on mac and pc. I have
come across one person that has this problem. When they type text into
a text box defined as a text area, the text looks like they are just
hitting the space bar. But when I select the text (or space), do a
copy and paste it into notepad, you can see what was typed.

This is obviously a problem with this persons computer and I was
wondering if anyone had come across this befor.

Seen something like that on some old Opera 7 preview versions.

You failed to include any information (like url of page, browser that was
used), so I don't think there is any sencible answer...

What settings does that person have for colors? Is the "use my colors"
selected rather than "use site colors"?

I've seen this on <http://amazon.com/> viewed in Opera.
Some form controls are (or were at some time) styled with
'font-family: fixed;' and, as it happens, my Windows 98SE
box has a font named 'fixed' that is completely blank. At
least according to the fontviewer.

This may of course be completely unrelated. As always,
and as Lauri has already pointed out, a URL would help
tremendously to diagnose your problem.
