Cookie removal

Hi folks not sure if this is strictly within the charter for this group
- where woul dthis be better posted?

I am seeing odd behaviour (well it seems it to me but I guess it's
probably correct!) when I am trying to remove cookies.

As I understand it, to 'remove a cookie one sets the expiration date of
it to be in the past.

Set-Cookie: sessionid100292=1086:2045072014; expires=Monday, 01-Jan-1990
08:00:00 GMT;

The above is being sent, as far as I can see, within the http headers
and yet the browser still seems to see the cookies (and the expiration
remains 'end of session').

The cookies we are setting are 'session' cookies - not stored on the
user's machine.

Have looked in IE6 and Netscape 7 (using its very useful cookie manager)

Any tips on why these cookies might not be being expired?

Thanks for any and all thoughts - I am sure this will turn out to be
something quite trivial!

A cookie has a path. Is the path the same each time?

O.k., but Your example doesn't show a path for the cookie.
