Multiple Page Form

Have a lot of data to collect / choices presented, producing a large
form. I am desirous of breaking it up into multiple pages to avoid
detracting users.

Could some one say how best to create such a multi-page form. Submitted
either individually or as a single integral unit? Since it would be
necessary to identify each page as originating from the same user
without having them enter their ID information redundantly on each page.

Another option being considered is to give them, the users, the option
to complete the submission in two or more sittings. How can this be done
also.

I would welcome a referral to appropriate reading material also.

With server side processing. Look into various techniques such as
sessions, cookies, etc. It's not an HTML question, unless you have a
question about how to write the form. Processing form submissions is
outside the scope of HTML. Look for a newsgroup about whatever server
side processing you have. eg. PHP, ASP, or whatever.
