I always thought Vestdijks 'De Vuuraanbidders' to be very good.

Ah, you mean the Encyclopedia? Or the phonebook perhaps.

Dan Cederholm "Web Standards Solutions" probably the best book around.

Also, I would not recomment Jeffrey Zeldman "Designing with web
standards": Not worth it. Read negative comments about it:

I'll give away this stupid book.

Went through Chapter 1 on "Lists that navigate", and they don't work in
IE or Firefox. Thought it must be me so downloaded the code from the web
site - and that didn't work either. Perhaps it's a feature - learn by
fixing the errors.

I liked this (book and especially as an e-book)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...372550-4459807.. and this book:http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...372550-4459807.. and this downloadable freebie:http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/css2.pdf.. although if I could find a book which explains how to get widths right inboth IE6 and Firefox, now that would be something!--###################### PH, London####################<dw****@duskmail.com> wrote in messagenews:1f***************@vjwmous.yjvsow...> Anybody know any good books?>> dw****@duskmail.com

Yikes, that got mangled (below).

The Book/E-book is "Teach yourself CSS in 24 Hours" (Sams).

The other Book is "Eric Meyer on CSS"
http://www.ericmeyeroncss.com/

... and you can download the CSS2 spec as a free pdf from:
http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/css2.pdf
... and it's surprisingly readable!

AFAIK the book isn't on line -- it's cxertainly not on line there.
That's the "companion site" for downloadable examples ans
supplemental materials.

Sorry, Stan, that wasn't clear. Eric Meyer's book isn't available online; I
simply included the link (first thing that came up in Google) as a lazy way
of referring to it. Search for ISBN: 073571245X

By the way, if the OP isn't aware of the wonderful "demonstration" site:
www.csszengarden.com
... then he ought to go play with it. (Take care to select links for
designs, not authors, to avoid confusion.)
