header problem

Hello,

I'm a webmaster of a basketball site nl. http://msk.knoal.nl

What i want is another header. What i like is a header like this one :
http://msk.knoal.nl/images/14.jpg

But when i use this, I will destroy the liquid design of my site.

What are my options ??
Is it possible to make such sort of header with css ??
And no, what is possible to make ??

Yes:

The narrower the change of height in the middle, the better the
scaling on narrower window widths.
