CSS Fixed width DIV

I have <DIV> that recieves dynmaic text (numbers, non wrapping). When
the texts gets too long - the div expands - ruining my UI. Is there a
way - to stop the expanding of the DIV ("fixed width") - with out using
overflow?

What do you want to happen to the content of the DIV?

well, i want it not to grow. there is plenty of room for my maximum
allowable content - but its growning even tought there is still
available space to use. so, i will control the len of content coming in
- and i want the div to stay the same size, all the time.

Follow Up: The TD that the DIV existed in had no set width. Once I set
the width of the TD the "grow" issue has stopped.

Are you saying your problem is solved then?
