Including or repeating sections in an HTML document

I can include images, java code, fill a frame, etc. in a document using src=
to a url and/or bookmark.
How can I do the same for a piece of tagged text?
I came on this when I tried to repeat a small navigation table at intervals
in a document without using frames. In the end I copied and pasted it.
I suppose I'm looking for something like a hyperlink without the jump. Or
using src= in a table cell.
A use would be to assemble a (scrollable long page) document with bits from
other documents, which bits .could be separately updated/contributed.
You may guess I'm newish to HTML. I have worked with script/dcf though but
can't remember if such inclusions were possible.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...
